Council of Ministers communiqué

The President of the Republic, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, chaired on Monday, a meeting of the Council of Ministers, indicated a communiqué from the Council of Ministers.
“The President of the Republic, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, chaired on Monday, a meeting of the Council of Ministers dedicated to the examination of two draft laws relating to anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing measures, and to the protection of physical persons in the processing of personal data, as well as to presentations dealing notably with automotive industry projects.
Following the Prime Minister’s briefing on government activities over the past two weeks and following the interventions of the Ministers on the presentations on the agenda, the President of the Republic gave the following instructions, directives and orientations:
At the beginning of the meeting, and after examination and debate of the draft law relating to the prevention and fight against money laundering and terrorism financing and the draft law relating to the protection of physical persons in the processing of personal data, the Council of Ministers approved the two draft laws, taking into account the orientations of the President of the Republic who affirmed that Algeria had established strict rules and control mechanisms in the fight against all forms of corruption, and this, after having crossed important stages in the fight against all forms of criminality, notably those linked to financial aspects, as well as in matters of protection of persons.
Regarding firefighting means:
-The President ordered maximum vigilance levels in the coming weeks as temperatures are expected to rise.
-The President of the Republic ordered to show extreme caution during harvest operations.
-All resources must be mobilized and efforts coordinated within a proactive framework to prevent potential fires.
Regarding progress on automotive manufacturing projects in Algeria:
-The President of the Republic commended the sincere dealers who work to establish a true automotive industry, thus breaking with the dark history of certain fraudsters who operated in this sector before 2019.
-The President of the Republic affirmed that the approvals relating to the construction and importation of vehicles fell under the exclusive competence of the Council of Ministers.
The President emphasized the absolute necessity of involving qualified Algerian subcontracting companies in different specialties of the automotive industry as a sine qua non condition.
-The President ordered the opening of the sector to national industrial companies in the field of automotive electricity, spare parts and others.
-The President affirmed that the strategic objective consists of establishing the foundations of a true emerging mechanical industry through the automotive construction projects currently being implemented, in order to achieve a contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP) of at least 12%.”
