Under the slogan 'A People Sacrificed, So They Triumphed,' the Algerian Embassy in Lusaka commemorated today the National Day of Memory, coinciding with the 81st anniversary of the May 8, 1945 massacres.
On this occasion, the flag was raised, the national anthem was played, and Al-Fatiha was recited for the souls of the martyrs.
Ambassador Tawfik Mahi delivered a speech in which he highlighted the atrocity of this crime, which marked a turning point in the struggle of the Algerian people, while recalling the historical and political context.
He also praised the directives of the President of the Republic to proceed with the implementation of two projects: the first concerning national sessions on memory and history, and the second regarding the preparation of a law related to national memory.
