The staff of the Embassy of Algeria in Lusaka commemorated National Martyrs’ Day, observed on 18 February 2026, in tribute to and in remembrance of those who sacrificed their pure souls so that we may enjoy today the blessings of freedom, dignity, and sovereignty.
The commemoration included the raising of the national flag, the listening to the national anthem, and the recitation of Al-Fatiha for the souls of the martyrs.
On this occasion, His Excellency Ambassador Toufik Mahi, delivered a speech in which he emphasized the national and moral responsibility that obliges us to always remember the sacrifices made by our martyrs. They are the beacon of the nation, role models for its children, and a symbol of its pride. They constitute an integral part of our country’s history and identity.
