President Tebboune performs Eid al-Fitr prayer in Jamaa al-Jazair

ALGIERS- President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on Wednesday morning performed Eid al-Fitr prayera, in an atmosphere of piety and serenity, in Jamaa al-Jazair mosque of Algiers.

Senior State officials, members of the government and representatives of Arab and Muslim diplomatic corps accredited to Algeria, as well as several worshippers also performed the prayer of Eid al-Fitr in this religious and civilizational building.

In his two sermons, the rector of Jamaa al-Jazair Mosque, Sheikh Mohamed

Maamoun Al Kacimi Al Hoceini, put forward the virtues of Islam and the purpose of fasting during the holy month of Ramadan, praying to Almighty Allah to reward the Muslim Nation for the good deeds, prayers and devotion.

Stressing the importance of Eid al-Fitr, which crowns the month of fasting, prayers and actions of solidarity and mutual aid among the children of the nation, the rector called for making the most of this opportunity to learn.

Sheikh Mohamed Maamoun Al Kacimi Al Hoceini called for charity and moral elevation, for strengthening the ties of kinship, affection and forgiveness among the Muslims and for praising Allah for His graces.

He urged worshippers to help each other in goodness and piety, to show uprightness and sincerity in their behaviour and to work for reconciliation and unification of Muslims.

It is important "to build conscious individuals, who reject extremism, fanaticism and division, who respect law and order and who put the interests of the nation above any other consideration."

Sheikh Mohamed Maamoun Al Kacimi Al Hoceini mentioned Algeri's achievements, especially Jamaa al-Jazair Mosque, a religious and civilizational building meant to be a "unifying mosque for the children of Algeria and an impregnable bulwark   for an authentic religious referent based on moderation and balance."

He recalled that Jamaa al-Jazair had welcomed, since it was inaugurated by the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, thousands of worshippers, mainly for the Tarawih prayer during the holy month of Ramadan.

The rector of Jamaa al-Jazair also stressed the need, on this day of Eid al-Fitr, to have a thought for the oppressed Muslims, citing occupied Palestine and the wounded Gaza Strip, as the entire world is watching, on a daily basis, live images of the martyrs, the injured, the orphans, the widows as well as the destroyed schools, the mosques and the hospitals collapsing on people inside.

He emphasized that the crimes against humanity in Gaza are unprecedented in the history of humanity.
